Saving Rush

28 March 2012 | Filed under: Political Commentary and tagged with: Jeffrey Lord, Rush Limbaugh, Sandra Fluke

Jeffrey Lord at the American Spectator writes a reasonable article on The Plot to Get Rush. He weaves a convincing tale of Angelo Carusone of Media Matters and his success in getting Glenn Beck off the air (the Stop Beck campaign), and how he is now targeting Rush Limbaugh (Rush Limbaugh targeted in radio campaign aimed at sponsors as fallout to ‘slut’ comment continues). Much like how “the newly powerful National Socialists of Germany — aka the Nazis — began sending storm troopers to terrify Jews by painting crude yellow signs reading “Not for Aryans” on the windows of Jewish shopkeepers,” and how “the leftists beneath the hoods of the Ku Klux Klan lynched terrified blacks at night while running America’s Democratic Party by day”, Carusone ‘”dispatches a letter or e-mail to corporate executives asking them if they are aware that their ads are running in an hour” when Beck or (fill in the blank…Rush, Hannity, Palin) said Y. “Y” standing for “insert newest offensive sound bite”‘.

And the cause of this campaign? A few innocuous words by Rush calling Sandra Fluke a slut, a prostitute, and demanding to see her sex tapes. And who is this Sandra Fluke? Not merely a white, middle class woman and a law student, but a considerable leftist activist who, while at Cornell, was known, as Lord notes, to be a participant in:

  • Cornell Women’s Resource Center Volunteer
  • Women in Public Policy

and while at Georgetown:

  • Women’s Legal Alliance
  • Georgetown Democrats
  • National Lawyers Guild

Proof, as Lord so aptly puts it, that this is not exactly “the record of an innocent college student.” Lord goes on to conclude about the left’s despicableness, “From the guillotine of 1789 to the lists of enemies of the people in the 1920s to Chinese Roulette in the 1960s. In America it has run the gamut from the lynching of blacks to union thuggery to intimidating sponsors of talk radio in the twittering 21st century.”
